Certificates

Demonstrate your expertise with an in-demand legal specialty by earning a certificate concurrently with your JD. These intensive programs are designed to prepare you with the skills and experiences you need to hit the ground running in your law career. Certificates are available in:

  • Compliance and Risk Management
  • Criminal Practice and Procedure 
  • Immigration Law (formerly a concentration)
  • Intellectual Property Law (formerly a concentration)

Each certificate program has a required experiential learning component, which includes internships, clinics, moot court/mock trial competitions, and other options. Certificate candidates must complete a designated number of credits and earn a specified GPA in program courses as well. Completion of the certificate program is also noted on transcripts for employers.

Criminal Practice and Procedure

Directed by Professor Victor Hansen, a former Judge Advocate General’s (JAG) Corps officer, our Criminal Practice and Procedure certificate program includes skill-building courses and clinics that will place you in the courtroom alongside federal prosecutors, public defenders, private defense attorneys, and judges.
